Rotary drilling rig construction operation process
Rotary drilling rig is a piece of equipment widely used in pile foundation construction. It is particularly important to master some skills when using rotary drilling rigs for pile construction.
- Inspection: Before the rotary drilling rig starts working, the equipment needs to be fully inspected and maintained. The engine, hydraulic system, electrical system, etc. should be checked to ensure they are in good working order. At the same time, we need to understand the geological conditions of the construction site and choose appropriate drill tools and kelly bar.
- Site preparation: Before construction, the site should be cleared to ensure that the ground is flat and free of obstacles. The construction site must be flat, spacious, and have a certain degree of hardness to prevent the equipment from sinking. At the same time, determine the location and depth of the borehole according to the construction requirements.
- Install drilling tools: According to the construction requirements, we need to select appropriate drill bits and kelly bar and install them on the rotary drilling rig. Make sure the installation is firm to prevent loosening or falling off during construction.
- Adjust the drilling rig: Adjust the position and angle of the rotary drilling rig according to site conditions and construction requirements. Make sure the drill bit is aligned with the center of the pile to avoid deflection and movement.
- Drilling:Switch the rotary drilling rig and began drilling. During the drilling process, the drilling speed and depth should be controlled to avoid excessive speed or depth, which may cause equipment damage or affect the construction quality.
- Observe the status of the equipment: During the drilling process, you should always observe the status of the rotary drilling rig, such as engine temperature, hydraulic system pressure, drill bit wear, etc. If there are any abnormalities, stop the machine immediately for inspection and processing.
- Record data: During the construction process, various data should be recorded, such as drilling depth, soil properties, drill bit wear, etc. These data can provide reference for subsequent construction and help optimize the construction plan.

According to different geological conditions, we need to strengthen mud management during construction to strictly ensure mud quality.
For formations with particle sizes less than 100mm, traditional drilling rigs can be used for soil drilling. When drilling, you should pay attention to drilling and unloading the soil after filling the bucket; if the drilling is soft, you should use a smaller cutting angle and a smaller cutting angle. For wedge-tooth drills, bevel-tooth drills with larger cutting angles should be used for drilling in harder formations. When the local layer contains large pebbles with a diameter of 100mm~200mm, a single bottom blade with a large opening should be drilled. Or crush it with a drill bit, and then drill with drilling rig; when using boulders with a diameter greater than 200mm or using larger exploration stones on the hole wall, a cylindrical stone drill or annular drilling should be used. The cone must be cut off from the hole wall first and then taken out.
- Clean up drill cuttings: During the drilling process, a large amount of drill cuttings will be produced, which should be cleaned up in time to prevent clogging the equipment or affecting the construction progress.
- Ending: When the drilling reaches the designed depth, the machine should be stopped and the drilling tool should be disassembled. During the disassembly process, it should be carried out in the prescribed order to avoid damaging the equipment or affecting construction safety.
Proper use of a rotary drilling rig requires certain skills and experience. At the same time, we need to follow operating procedures and regulations. We need to pay attention to the status of the equipment and site conditions. If there is an accident, deal with it promptly.
